John Gray
Position: President & CEO
John has over 18 years experience in mineral exploration having worked as a project and senior geologist primarily in gold, copper and platinum group metals exploration with both major international mining and junior exploration companies, including Homestake, Noranda and Axmin. His experience includes exploration and project management within Archaean greenstone through Tertiary epithermal terranes in Canada, South America, the Balkans, northern Europe and sub Saharan Africa. John is a Fellow of The Geological Society of London and a member of the Association of Mining Analysts.

 
Matthew Grainger MSc MCSM FGS
Position: Chief Operating Officer
Matthew's background includes project management and early stage exploration as well as corporate transactions and company financings. Most recently, Matthew co-founded Altus Strategies Ltd., a UK-based junior exploration incubator. In 2004, he co-founded and was integral to the successful development of AIM listed Ariana Resources plc and was the Operations Director until September 2006. Matthew was a director of KSPM Associates Ltd. until January 2005. He graduated with Honours in Earth Science in 1997 and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Mining Geology at Camborne School of Mines. Matthew is a Fellow of The Geological Society of London and a member of the Association of Mining Analysts.

 
Mr. Ajay ("AJ") K. Gupta
Position: Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Gupta is a Chartered Accountant (CA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 20 years of experience, including 12 years of international experience in the field of corporate finance, financial reporting, corporate governance and risk management. He has worked primarily with publicly traded international and Canadian corporations, most recently at Scandinavian Minerals Limited.

 
Val Jones
Position: Finance and Administration Manager
Val Jones has a wealth of experience in administration and project management. Prior to joining African Aura, Val held a senior position at Mars Electronics Ltd with responsibility for HR, Accounts and Project Management. Val subsequently gained valuable experience in the resource sector, working as Office Manager for AIM listed Ariana Resources plc. Val also presently fulfils the Finance and Administration Manager role for Altus Strategies Ltd.



Cameroon Team

 
Mark Biddulph, BSc.Hons, GDE, Pr.Sci.Nat
Position: Country Manager and Chief Geologist

Mark brings many years of operating experience to the company including over 11 years with Anglogold Ashanti where most recently he was the General Manager in Mineral Resources at the Obuasi mine in Ghana. His experience includes many areas of senior level management and brownfields exploration at Obuasi as well as other operations in South Africa.

He holds a BSc Hons in Geology and GIS from Rhodes University and a GDE in Mining Engineering (Mineral Economics) from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Mark is a Professional Natural Scientist under the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).

 
Dr Velizar Strumberger (Strumbi)
Position: Ridgeway Energy (Uranium) - Country Manager and Chief Geologist

Strumbi has over 35 years experience in the minerals sector and holds an MSc and PhD in Geology. He is a former director of the Geoinstitute in Serbia and has over ten years of experience in uranium exploration, gained while working for the International Atomic Energy Agency. During his career he has undertaken projects in Serbia, Tanzania, Madagascar, DRC, Slovenia, Columbia, Libya Syria, Turkey, Thailand and South Korea.

 
Emmanuel Suh PhD
Position: Senior Consultant

Emmanuel is an Associate Professor for the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at University of Buea, Cameroon, and is the author of numerous internationally published papers. In 1997, Emmanuel gained a Ph.D in Applied Geology researching uranium mineralization and exploration techniques in Nigeria. Since returning to Cameroon in 1998, he has provided his experience as a consultant to a number exploration projects, principally for gold and uranium.

 
Andrew Murrells, BES
Position: Senior Geologist, Cameroon

A graduate of the National University of Ireland, Andrew has worked as a field geologist with duties including logging core, soil sampling, rock sampling, deep over-burden sampling, surveying and extensive computer-based GIS. As a project geologist with African Aura in Liberia he attained signifcant experience before moving to Batouri in Cameroon in June 2006 to head the Batouri exploration team.

 
Emmanuel Addo Boateng, BSc (Hons.)
Position: Senior Geologist

Emmanuel graduated with a BSc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Ghana in 1996. Between 2002 and 2007 Emmanuel worked for Golden Star Exploration as a senior exploration geologist at the St Jude Project in Ghana. Prior to this Emmanuel worked in Ghana as an exploration geologist for Glencar Mining Plc and as a geologist for Obenemase Gold Mines Ltd.

 
Alexander Fairbairn, MGEOL
Position: Senior Geologist

Alex graduated from the University of Leicester with a Masters degree in Geology in 2005. Before University, he spent two and a half years in the Territorial Army Royal Signals after completing an officer training course at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Prior to joining African Aura Alex worked as an exploration geologist in Sierra Leone with Axmin Inc. He has broad experience in running field exploration programmes and GIS.

 
Primus Asua
Position: Accountant, Cameroon
Primus is a graduate of the University of Buea in Cameroon where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Accountancy.

Primus previously worked for the British Council in Cameroon where he served as a Finance Officer for seven years in charge of numerous accounting functions including producing financial and management accounts and conducting regular internal audits and reporting to the UK.

 
Brunot Yegba
Position: Office Manager, Cameroon

Brunot has many years experience of office and administration management in Cameroon as well as accounting experience with a number of companies.

 
Albert Nih Fon MSc, BSc
Position: Project Geologist, Cameroon

Albert is an M.Sc graduate in Applied Geology from the University of Buea. His previous with experience includes gold exploration in eastern Cameroon.

 
Kouankap G Djibril
Position: Project Geologist

Djibril is an former MSc graduate of the University of Yaounde where he is currently completing a PhD on the lithology and structure of central zone of the Cameroon Shear Zone. He joined the company in February 2007.

 
Divine Njinchuki
Position: Project Geologist

Divine is a graduate geologist with a degree in economic geology from the University of Yaounde in Cameroon. He has built up with experience in of the geology across of several regions of Cameroon.

 
Martin Louis
Position: Project Geologist

Martin has a PhD in metallogeny and a post graduate diploma in geology. His PhD focused on the genesis and tectonics associated with the sapphire in the Adamaara region in Cameroon.

 
Cyril Uchechukwu
Position: Project Geologist

Cyril is a graduate in metallurgical and material engineering from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. His experience includes work within the metals industry in Nigeria and iron ore exploration.

 
Emmanuel Mbella
Position: Prospector, Cameroon

Emmanuel has worked as a prospector throughout Cameroon and has many years of experience of mapping, Banka drilling, pitting, line cutting, panning, sampling and sample preparation


Liberia Team

 
Hamish Maclaren
Position: Chief Geologist, Liberia

Hamish has 26 years experience in Africa as an exploration geologist specialising in target generation from the structural interpretation of remote sensing data. His experience includes all stages of exploration, with 14 years at Gold Fields and as an independent consultant to a number of major and junior mining companies. He has been involved in the exploration and development of gold, platinum, diamonds, tin, and other base metals, primarily in South Africa, Namibia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Ghana. Hamish is a graduate of Chemistry and Geology at the University of Natal, and holds an MSc from the University of Cape Town.

 
Jenkins Dorber, MSc
Position: Senior Consultant - Liberia

Jenkins Dorber graduated from the University of Monrovia with a degree in Geochemistry then completed the MSc Mining and Exploration Geology course at the Colorado School of Mines. Since that time, Jenkins Dorber has been head of department for Chemistry at Monrovia University, and has worked extensively in the mining and exploration industry in Liberia during a career that spans over 30 years. As such he has been instrumental in developing much of today's understanding of Liberian geology.

 
Abu Bakarr Bangura, BSc. (Hons)
Position: Project Geologist, Liberia

Graduate of Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. Final year thesis on gold exploration; work as a field geologist including supervision of stream sediment sampling aeromagnetic targets, drilling, logging and bulk sampling

 
Emmanuel N Blankson
Position: Chief Accountant, Liberia

Emmanuel is an Associate Member of the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accounts. He brings 20 years accounting and management skills with him including practical experience in financial management, sales and marketing, real estate, and the oil, rubber and aviation industries.

 
Jonathon Pratt, BSc
Position: Project Engineer, Liberia

Graduate of Peking University with Honours in Mining Engineering and fluent Mandarin. Staff position at the Ministry of Lands Mines and Energy in Monrovia.

 
Robert Brewer
Position: Bush Camp Manager, Liberia

During his career, Robert Brewer worked in the agricultural sector before being responsible for the construction and maintenance of a large exploration camp in western Liberia. He brings with him an extensive network of contacts, keen acumen and a strong track record for solving logistical problems.
